“The eternal, independent, and self-existent Being: the Being whose purposes and actions spring from himself, without foreign motive or influence: he who is absolute in dominion; the most pure, the most simple, and most spiritual of all essences; infinitely benevolent, beneficent, true, and holy: the cause of all being, the upholder of all things; infinitely happy, because infinitely perfect; and eternally self-sufficient, needing nothing that he has made: illimitable in his immensity, inconceivable in his mode of existence, and indescribable in his essence; known fully only to himself, because an infinite mind can be fully apprehended only by itself. In a word, a Being who, from his infinite wisdom, cannot err or be deceived; and who, from his infinite goodness, can do nothing but what is eternally just, right, and kind. Reader, such is the God of the Bible; but how widely different from the God of most human creeds and apprehensions!”  -Adam Clarke commentary on the Bible

Genesis 1:1, Psalm 90:2

God is love. But, when the word “love” is used, we need to be aware it has differing meanings to people. The Biblical definition of love is seen in the person and life of Jesus Christ. It is because of God’s love, people can be saved. For God so loved the world that He sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. God demonstrates toward us a love that is profound.

2 Corinthians 13:14; cf. Matthew 28:19; John 14:26; John 15:26; 1 Peter 1:2

The Bible is the Word of God. “All Scripture is inspired by God (God breathed)” The Bible is a special Book. God spoke directly to holy men, who wrote down God’s message to you.

Therefore, it is completely true. The Bible has stood the test of time and the prophecies have all come true (with more to come). Many Christians over the centuries have given their lives spreading it. God brings it into your life now so that you can know it, believe it and obey Him.

There is no being like God. He is perfect in all His ways. He is holy. He never does anything bad, but all He says and does is right and good. Psalm 77:13, “Your ways, God, are holy.”

The Bible teaches us that God is completely clean, pure, and holy. He never does anything which is wrong. God has never, nor ever will sin. God can’t even be tempted! It is hard to imagine someone like that, but that is what He is like.

God is good. God is the greatest good, He is the source of all things that are good. God’s nature is good. Everything He does is good. God is merciful, kind, loving, and full of truth. God wants us to be happy and goes to great lengths for that to happen. Unfortunately, mankind often chooses to reject God’s goodness.

This is where the Bible Begins – Gen 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth.

Isaiah 33:22, “For the LORD is our judge…”God is just; a perfect Judge. He will reward or punish people rightly.

He will reward purity and punish sin. We are created with an innate desire for justice. We cry, “foul” when people get away with crimes or when we don’t get rewarded as we think we ought. God knows all things and sees all things. Nothing escapes Him. We can be sure that He will rightly judge all people at the end of the ages.

There is much more that can be said about God. It is impossible to define Him or describe Him completely. We are finite beings with limited understanding. God is eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, self-sustaining, faithful, always true, and glorious in every way. Seek to know who He really is for yourself. Read about God in the Bible.
