Faith is believing God can be trusted and should be obeyed. We are to have faith in God and trust in His Word, the Bible. Today is the day of salvation. God invites you to believe Him and trust Him. God knows what is good for you, He loves you, He created you. Jesus says, “come unto me those that are weary, and I will give you rest.” Cry out to your Lord for mercy. Give Jesus Christ first place in your life, for His glory and for your joy. Do this by putting your faith in Jesus. This means to trust Him and to obey Him. It means believing Jesus died for your sins.
God is calling people to come to Him. It is His summons to us. We must respond to the call by recognizing the truth about ourselves, that we are sinners. We must recognize the person and work of Jesus Christ. We must turn from our sin and we must put our full trust in God that this is how we are to be saved and that there is no other way.
Jesus did NOT call people to make a “one time” decision about Him, but to follow Him all their life. True faith is a life that continually follows Jesus.
The church consists of people that were sinners, enemies of God, but have been reconciled, which means brought together in a right relationship,
We, all people, need to recognize our sin. We need to say, “Woe is me. I am hostile to God. I am His enemy. I am a man of unclean lips and dwell among unclean people. I live in rebellion to God’s authority, I use His name in vain, I lie to His face and curse the ground He created. I covet what is not mine. I play when I should work. I complain when I should rejoice. I gossip when I should pray. I am mean when I should be kind. I seek revenge when I should forgive. God created me in His image and I violate, defile, disgrace, and trample upon His holy perfection. Life and death are His to give. He gave me life but I deserve death. Lord have mercy upon me. “My Lord and My God. I am made for your glory. You are Lord over all that I hear, see, smell, and I touch. I am but a vapor, dust. You are King of Kings, Lord of Lords, the Judge of the living and the dead.
The church consists of people that look upon Christ and say “My Lord and my God.” They are chosen by Christ’s Father, reconciled by the blood of Christ. Their sins are forgiven. They are dead to self and alive to God in newness of life.
Believe the good news of the gospel. Believing the gospel is believing each of these statements:
Admit that you have sinned against God. You have not loved God or others as you should. You are guilty before a perfect, holy God. Your sin is not judged by comparing how good you are in relation to other people, but how you compare to God’s perfect, holy standards.
Admit you are unable to do any good to make up for the sins you have committed. In other words, you are not trusting in any good you have done to gain God’s favor. Instead, you cry out to God asking for His mercy.
Believe that Jesus is God and man, that He lived a sinless life, and He died on the cross, taking your punishment that you deserve. Believe that Jesus can make you righteous. Jesus gives you His holiness.
Believe Jesus rose from the dead, He has victory over sin and death, and Jesus offers eternal life to all who believe in Him and are willing to submit their lives to Jesus Christ.
The Bible says, “as many as received Jesus, all those that believe in Him, God gives them the right to be called the children of God.” Those that believe in Jesus from their heart truly become the children of God. They are transformed. Children of God have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and God changes them daily to become like Him. God’s children have joy, peace, kindness, and are filled with a love for God and a love for others. Just as children reflect characteristics of their parents, children of God reflect characteristics of their Father in Heaven. They desire holiness and goodness and have a growing distaste for evil and wrong.
